The community around Mt. Suswa has formed a trust to spearhead the development of tourism activities in the area. Suswa is a 2356-metre high volcanic mountain with interesting features including an outer crater that is 10km in diameter, an inner crater that is 5km in diameter, lava tube caves and hot springs. The outer crater floor has scenic landscapes for walking, driving and camping. The edge of the inner crater has a wonderful view of a little explored densely forested area right in the middle of the crater. The trust is currently engaged in efforts to improve the state of roads and tracks to Mt. Suswa, in addition to provision of piped water and electricity. The water will be used in camping sites that have been identified at the upper sections of the mountain. To get to Suswa, one turns off about 17km from Mai Mahiu town on the Mai Mahiu-Narok road.
