Mission: To increase household Incomes, enhance lives and livelihoods of poor communities in Western Region of Kenya through provision of financial services Vision:Our vision is the bringing of financial services within walking distances in the rural areas and to demonstrate that lending and providing financial services to the poor is both commercially viable and important aspects of poverty alleviation. EED Development Group is a unique micro finance organisation that employs practical micro finance and micro enterprise approaches with dynamics that comprehensively address the needs of the rural people. The organisation is in the process of scaling up its operations from a community-based organisation to a comprehensive one-stop micro finance service organisation to meet requirements of the proposed micro finance bill. The organisation was started in year 2002 by Ugunja Community Recourses Centre (a local NGO) to network and empower the women not only in improving their livelihoods but also enable them fight for their rights. SEED has developed a methodological approach that has demonstrated ability to provide financial services to poor people on a sustainable and profitable basis. The organisation has shown its potential to help the poor to reduce their vulnerability, improve their livelihoods, pay for basic health care and finance their children's education. SEED projects combine micro finance with aspects of micro enterprises that enable clients to achieve 70% growth within the first 12 months of membership. The project promotes affordable and accessible savings and credit. It has a unique Micro Asset Finance loans product that provides credit for Dairy Goats, Beehives and indigenous poultry. SEED has moved beyond "credit for enterprise" to encompass "financial services to reduce vulnerability and improve livelihoods" in line with the Millennium Development Goals. SEED MF has 14 centres in Siaya, Kisumu, Bondo and Busia District spread in all the 7 districts and has capacity/capability to provide various micro finance services including savings and credit, pay point, advances, loans, NHIF/NSSF remittances and money transfer. The organisation has competent and experienced staff in Micro Finance / enterprise. The organisation is seeking a long-term partnership with International in sustainable delivery of financial services rural persons to enhance and improve livelihoods.
