The C and P Community Trust is in its infancy, so we are working on various projects all over Kenya. Our main focus is on conservation education and we train our various staff members to go out to the communities to teach people of all ages about the value of wildlife and environmental protection. We also have small enterprises, such as the following:
- Train people to grow thanji (swamp grass) so that they can sell it to the lodge in Meru to use for re-thatching the roof after the rains each year
- Solar panel charging units: rented by women who earn an income from people paying per charged device These are small at present, but we are going through a phase of project development and will update as soon as we have made more progress.
