PROJECT: AGLOW CARE CENTRE FOR ELDERLY DESTITUTE
The Care Centre for the Elderly Project seeks to provide refuge, dignity and solace for physically, materiially, emotionally and relationally displaced elderly people suffering from rejection, lack of basic necessities, dejection, loneliness and depression. We serve more than 150 elderly destitute with diverse needs such shown below:
• material: basic food, clothing and blankets, shelter, toiletry etc
• physical: frailty and disabilities
• Medical needs: vision related like cataract, blindness ,osteoporosis, oral health etc
• Emotional/spiritual: counseling The needs stem from different causes, among others; sheer poverty, the impact of HIV and AIDS, trans-generational parenting challenges birthed out of the fact that a good number of them are raising orphaned grandchildren, the seemingly breakdown of the caring culture of extended family. Many of our clients are female, single ladies, and widowed. There are male clients as well, but not as many as their female counterparts.
