Rifa Conservation Education Camp is a Zimbabwean Registered Welfare Education Organisation. We provide a unique wildlife conservation and environmental education programme to Zimbabwean school children. OUR MISSION is to empower and motivate generations of Zimbabweans to conserve the natural heritage of their country. WE AIM to educate the children of Zimbabwe about the sustainable management of Zimbabwe's wildlife and natural ecosystems.
ESTABLISHMENT and ACHIEVEMENTS.
Rifa Conservation E.C is situated on the banks of the Zambezi River floodplain, 4km upstream from Chirundu and was established in 1981 by a group of zimbabwean conservationists. More than 20,000 zimbabwean children have attended conservation and environmental education programmes at Rifa Conservation Education Camp over the last thirty years. The camp's annual capacity is 1200 children plus their teachers and is run at full capacity with a waitlist. The Camp operates throughout the dry season and into fringes of the rainy season, from mid-March until the end of November. The average programme length is 5 days. For those children who attend Rifa CECamp, it is likely to be the only visit that they will make in their lifetime to a protected wildlife area of Zimbabwe.
