Project OSCAR is a not-for-profit, independent and non-denominational organisation, formed to help the underprivileged in society. It was formed in 2008 by concerned Residents in Kasama, Northern Province and registered with the Registrar of Societies under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Lusaka, Zambia in February 2009. OSCAR's purpose is to build partnerships with communities, other organisations and support any effort by Government Departments to bring sustainable development equally to urban, peri urban and rural isolated areas. Target groups are the most vulnerable of society and their families. Programmes are designed and reviewed periodically to suit particularly Orphans, Widow/ers, Youths, the Disabled and people who are affected by limiting diseases (Malaria, TB, Polio, HIV/AIDS and others) in the different districts or provinces. The aims of the organisation are to improve living standards for people in rural and isolated areas, stimulate economic growth and strengthen the agricultural productivity with sustainable farming methods, based on community participation, primary education and the needs of the communities.

OSCAR (Organic Solutions for Conservation and Agricultural Results) also strives to preserve natural resources and biodiversity to meet the needs of the community for sustainable food security and livelihood. Sustainable food security depends 100% on an intact environment with its rich biodiversity.
