With the help of a local social worker the founders decided to establish the Centre in Tekera/ Lwega village, Buwunga sub-county, in Masaka district, about 17 km from the town of Masaka. In 2006, upon its inception, a road was built to access the medical clinic with Brigitte as the nurse practitioner. That was the original plan – offering an accessible medical service. However, due to the needs and demands of the community, the project quickly expanded to include Community and Co-operative Farms, a Women's Craft Club and, in 2007, the Tekera Primary School was established. TRC runs several projects including The Community Work Programme, a local community currency which can be earned and exchanged at various TRC services such as the Medical Clinic. TRC also runs a primarly school, a secondary education scholarship programme, adult education and a women's craft club. Finally TRC runs a Co-operative Farm which aims to create and provide markets to local farmers where otherwise there would be none.
