Reach Out Mbuya Parish HIV/AIDS Initiative (ROM), a Community Faith-Based Non-Government Organization (NGO), was founded in 2001 to provide HIV/AIDS care to the urban poor persons living with HIV/AIDS (PHAs) within the service area of Mbuya Catholic Parish and now in Kasaala-Luweero district since January 2009. ROM uses a community-based approach and a holistic model of care. The holistic model is a unique approach developed by Reach Out that cares for the body, mind, family, and community needs of her clients to restore hope to the hopeless and good health to the sick. The holistic model of care relies heavily on community-based approaches that emphasise community ownership and ROM strategically has over 53% of its staff drawn from its clients who hail from the catchment population.
