Earthwear was born out of my passion for eco-friendly clothes that do not cost the earth (price or otherwise ? ). In South Africa I have found a shortage of natural, affordable kids clothes, toys and accessories. This has prompted me to make my own earth and kid friendly clothes, toys, bedding and slings. Realising that others are in this predicament I decided to share what I make through this website. I am more than happy to make custom items, please feel free to contact me.
 
Our products are:
Sustainable and renewable: All items are hand-made from natural fabrics ~ hemp, organic cotton, bamboo. Recycled / upcycled mainly from denim (marked as such)
 
Limited environmental impact: We try to buy locally where possible, if a raw material is imported then we ship rather than using airfreight (airfreight creates 50 times more CO2), we use only recycled packaging to send out our parcels and minimise our impact on the environment. We keep our paper trail to a minimum, using electronic media in an effort to minimise our carbon footprint as much as possible.
 
Helping the local community: Currently all items are made by myself; a work at home mom, but I am in the process of building the business so as to be able to employ and train unemployed ladies from the local community thereby uplifting them and their families. I aim for this to be a family friendly business where employees needs (including their families needs) are taken into account.
