The SME will establish a plant propagation nursery, tissue culture lab, and plantation to grow (primarily) bamboo seedlings for commercial use. Currently 80% of seedlings used in Rwanda are imported, and often of poor quality. The SME seeks investment to utilize Rwanda's fertile soil and high demand to create a profitable business, increase supply of seedlings, create jobs, raise per capita income, increase food production, and educate and train local farmers on modern agricultural techniques.
The opportunity has already secured $80 million USD in plant orders. These consist of orders from private businesses, the Ministry of Agriculture, local farmers, and the city of Kigali. The business projects profitability within its first year of operation. Additionally, the opportunity has secured five years of tax holiday from the Rwandan government.
