Fundacao para o Desenvolvimento da Comunidade (FDC)
The Foundation for Community Development is a private, non-profit institution, working to build the capacity of communities with the objective of overcoming poverty and promoting social justice in Mozambique. FDC is:
- a Grant maker for Civil Society Organizations
- a Convenor, Networker and Facilitator
- an Advocater and Lobbyist
- a Capacity Builder - a Resource Mobilizer
- a Promoter of Good Practices
- a Promoter of Local Philanthropy and works in the following areas:
- Preventive health, water and sanitation
- Income generation, food security and nutrition
- Education
- Human Rights and citizenship
- Governance and strengthening of civil society and community leaders participation.
To achieve these goals, FDC establishes strategic and implementation partnerships with communities, civil society organizations, the private sector, governmental, academic and research institutions. FDC operates mainly at a local level (communities, districts, provinces) and national level. Nevertheless, some advocacy activities are targeted to a regional, continental or even international level.
