Friends Of Malawi (FOM) was formed by returned Peace Corps Volunteers in 1987. Over the years FOM has grown by reaching out to all individuals interested in learning about Malawi and helping the people of Malawi . FOM members have been instrumental in initiating and implementing several long-lived projects. These include the Malawi Book Project, the AIDS Task Force, and the Malawi Children's Village. FOM has also actively provided grants for schools, libraries, health clinics, HIV/AIDS awareness, and sustainable agricultural projects. The Friends Of Malawi (FOM) is a registered nonprofit organization. FOM has three primary purposes. First, it seeks to initiate and implement programs, activities, and publications related to Malawi for the benefit of FOM's members. Second, FOM supports projects and organizations in Malawi in the fields of education, health/human services, agriculture, environment, small business development, and others as appropriate. And third, FOM promotes cultural and commercial relations between the people of Malawi and the United States . FOM will cooperate, as appropriate, with other agencies or organizations in the United States and other countries to achieve these goals.
