The Civil Society Agriculture Network (CISANET) is a grouping of individuals, non-Governmental organizations (both local and international) , community-based organizations, associations operating in the agriculture sector, whose mission statement states that "CISANET promotes agricultural development and sustainable livelihoods for the poor by influencing desirable change in policies, practices and attitudes of Government, donors, civil society and other stakeholders through effective advocacy, networking, monitoring, research and capacity building.
CISANET developed as a merger between two initiatives/networks; from civil society organizations participation in the Malawi Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper formulation process, and the NGO Food Security Network – a forum of NGOs operating food security programme, where technical information sharing was done.
