Botswana Technology Centre (BOTEC) is a leading Research and Technology Organisation (RTO) established by the Botswana Government in 1979. It is headed by a ten (10) member Board of Directors appointed by the Minister of Infrastructure, Science and Technology. BOTEC supports the national development goals by aligning research, science and technology products and services with the Vision 2016 ideals and the National Development Plans.
The organization, which leads in harnessing innovative science and technology for the transformation of Botswana into a globally competitive nation, is renowned for successful implementation of energy projects. It operates under the Ministry of Infrastructure, Science and Technology.
Since inception, BOTEC has consistently pursued the Government's policy objective of technology promotion and innovation as a tool for economic development and improvement of the quality of life in Botswana.
Excellence in Science and Technology research is what we are about. Our ultimate aim is to create a true and futuristic fit-for-purpose research institution of repute for the first time in the area of Science & Technology in this country that will be relevant to the times and make impact to the lives of Batswana and society in general with our valued local, regional and international partners.
